Big Wave’s official first day of construction! Our subcontractors are on site, surveying, leveling, excavating, and grading the soil in preparation to compact the building pad so that it’s ready for the foundation … after 24 years of planning, permitting and funding.
Despite the autumn nip there was a buzz of excitement in the air on Saturday as locals gathered for a harvest fair and press conference to announce the start of construction at the Big Wave campus, where a new $37 million housing project is set to redefine the living experience for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Bay Area. This moment marks the culmination of 24 years of hard work, dedication and the steadfast belief that adults with IDD deserve more than just a place to live — they deserve a vibrant community where they can thrive.

Big Wave Group announces the commencement of construction on a unique $37 million, 50,000-square foot two-story residence for adults with IDD. Situated on the seven-acre Big Wave campus in Princeton Harbor, this innovative project features a variety of individual apartments from studio to three-bedroom, a 10,000 sq. ft. outdoor courtyard, indoor common areas, and a commercial kitchen to be leased to tenant One Step Beyond, Inc. (OSBI).
After 24 years of planning and a COVID-induced delay, the Big Wave Project is launching construction, with plans for the housing and community hub for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be completed by spring 2026.
