To apply for membership
Thank you for your interest in membership at Big Wave! If you would like more information about our project, or to apply for membership, please complete the Statement of Interest below and we will get in touch with you.
To qualify for membership, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
- Be 18 years of age or older. Those under 18 may apply for membership and move into their apartment when they reach the required age. However, buy-in for the membership is due at the time membership is offered, regardless of the prospective resident’s age.
- Have an understanding of the Big Wave model and have a preference and ability to live in a social community designed for persons with varying types of physical, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities.
- Be able to comply with the terms and conditions of the Big Wave Group bylaws, the Big Wave Community Cooperative bylaws, and all other community rules and regulations.
- Have a comprehensive, individualized plan for care in effect which allows the member to live communally and engage in community-oriented activities with appropriate support and services.
- Have resources (or a guarantor) to pay for all current and future costs and personal expenses related to residence at Big Wave.
- Not present an unmanageable risk to themselves or others.
- Not have a criminal record that may adversely affect the health or safety of others.
The Big Wave Community Cooperative Board of Directors will review qualified individuals and make the final decisions for membership.
